Biriyani Movie Review

Film Biriyani Movie Review:

Venkat Prabhu is back after the biggest hit of his career Mankatha which has created a big expectation for this movie. The other USP is of course the hero Karthi who has given hatric hits in a row and now after some failures in his film career is betting big time on Biriyani . Otherwise as usual the mandatory players in any Venkat Prabhu's  films are his bro Premji and music director Yuvan. Now let's see whether Karthi has chosen the right script and director to give him the most needed break.

The story starts with Karthi and Premji as childhood friends where  Karthi does all the mischief and as usual the hero's friend permji is on the receiving end. Then just after the intro, heroine and the so called villain gang gets introduced  but the story moves at a very slow pace with no big entertaining feature which starts testing the audience's patience. The film actually kicks starts after the main sequence of Ambur Biryani shop entrance and a series of unexpected incidents which leads us to the interval.

The second half starts in the right mood and maintains the expectations with some good twist and expected end where the hero and his friend escapes from all the danger. But the sequences are quite gripping with good laugh out loud jokes. Just when we think that the climax is done, the director surprises us with a complete twist to the story which makes the audience taken by a storm and say a well done.

Music is by Yuvan and this is his 100th film which already created some hype and the songs were  reasonable good to hear. But the making of the songs is not very impressive as too much of CG effects spoils the show. BGMs are good and loud in the nail biting sequences which is the style that Venkat follows  in his movies. On the whole it's an average show as far as music is concerned.

Venkat Prabhu's technical team never changes from his first movie and so is the making style of his films. Camera man Sakthi Saravanan has done a decent job but editors Praveen & Srikanth could have been better in the editing part of the first 40 mins of the film which would have given us a better crisp version of Biriyani.

Karthi in this movie is portrayed as a playboy and Premji as his friend makes up good duo. Ramki who already made a recent comeback in the film industry has done his role neatly and Nasser as usual steals the show in a cameo role. Hansika doesn't make any big impression as she has a very limited role to play.

The audience for a Venkat Prabhu's film knows that he is a kind of  director who will keep them entertained with the flavor of comedy, stylish film making, glamour etc., This is another typical Venkat Prabhu's film where Premji plays the main role that starts like a comedy subject but slowly pick up the pace. The storytelling style has many similarities to his previous film Mankatha as the complete movie until the end travels with a predictable story but ends with an incredible twist. Comedy sequences between Premji and Karthi has worked out big time which is the major plus for this film. This Biriyani which tastes spicy with lots of masala ingredients will turn out to be a good diet for this weekend.

Film Ivan Veramathiri Review

Film Ivan Veramathiri : The previous ventures of both the hero and director are blockbuster movies which obviously create big expectation for this film. Again the theme is based on the real life incident of the law college fight that happened a few years back. Other than this incident sequece and few other intelligent twists most of the film is predictable. This film will receive mixed reviews as the final message delivered is not very appealing. Watch the movie without any expectations so that you will not be disappointed (Indha padam konjam Veramathiri )

Thagararu Movie Review

Film Thagararu : Just from the title we can make out that this should be a complete action film but just to warn the audience that the violence is just too much. It crosses the threshold limit and will make the audience feel uncomfortable in the second half. The film does have some story line and suspense sequences but after a point the over dosage of the same will confuse the audience. The climax twist and the final sequence are good but the major problem with the film is its characterization and portrayal of the same. Better casting might have helped the movie. It's an average movie with some flaws but nevertheless its a good attempt for a debut director to experiment with a new story line.

Irandam Ulagam Review

Film Irandam Ulagam:

Director selvaraghavan has tried out a completely fantasy concept in this movie. The first half starts promising with the 7G/Khadhal Konden style of romance and jokes which ends with a complicated twist. The second half of the movie is in the new 2nd world and the problem here is the audience are not able to get the mood and feel of this new world as most of this looks very artificial because of the poor casting of actors. The climax and the second half are the loose ends of this selvaraghavan's bold attempt to introduce the new world.

*stricty for selvaraghavan fans and audiences who like to watch new attempts made in Tamil cinema

Naiyaandi Movie Review

Film Naiyaandi : For an actor of Dhanush caliber the expectation of a normal audience has gone up to a great level and Dhanush's growth is now keenly watched across India after his super hit Bollywood entry. So we expect actor like Dhanush should select a movie only after he being convinced about the story or screenplay even though he bets on the director like Sarkunam whose first two films are Super hits(Kalavani,Vaagai Sooda Vaa)

Story: I feel so bad to say that there is nothing like the story in this movie. It's the hero loving a girl who initially is not impressed with the hero but after seeing his good motives starts loving him but now her father is against this and so the blah blah... . This is the same boring story that we see in Tamil cinema for years and now it is so boring that audience just want to run away from the theatre.

From a National award winning actor and a director who has given the National award winning film we just don't expect such a crap movie. This will be sure listed in the Big time Flop of the year.

Raja Rani Movie Review

Film Raja Rani: This Film has created lots of expectations because of its casting, trailer and few other good reasons. Director Atlee , disciple of Shankar is directing this film which also adds up the expectations. The more the expectations created,  its actually a problem for the Movie because it has no choice other than being the best. Lets see what Raja Rani is up to ?

The story is very much predictable from the trailer that Arya (John) and Nayanthara (Regina) are getting married forcefully, but both have their own love failure stories which they are not ready to forget. This story was already revealed by the director and the team in various promos in TV channels. Then what is that director Atlee is betting on which will make the audience sit back and watch this movie ? Of course he proves that his schooling about film making is done by the best master of Tamil cinema. From the starting scene the screenplay is so crisp with so many twists that will make the audience glued to their seats.

Some of the best scenes are Sathyaraj - Nayathara emotional scenes that are so realistic  with some excellent performance by both the actors. Santhanam comedy track as usual is blended with the film screenplay which adds the required comedy sense to this intense emotional drama. Nayanthara and Arya continue to rock after Boss Engira Baskaran. Jai (Surya) role is very different  and the actor has given his best which will be critically acclaimed. Nazriya as usual looks bubbly and charming.

After a long time , this film will satisfy all the expectations of the audience. It excels in almost all departments and also from a heart breaking intense emotional scene to the recently best comedy track of Santhanam your gonna be entertained for the full. For presenting this clean family entertainer with his brilliant direction, director Atlee is gonna go stages. Must watch.

YA YA Movie Review

Film YaYA : Nothing good to say about this silly time pass film. The movie completely bets on Santhanam and Siva and nothing else, Not the story, screenplay or anything for that matter.

Will quote some good one liners from the movie - which is actually good enough for watching this movie.

"Puli ku munnadi pona Maanum, Ponnu ku pinnadi pona aanum
Thapikkave mudiyadhu"

"Nalla ponnum Dinasourum onnum enna
rendume ippo indha ulagathula illa"

"En 'Kudi'(sarakku) kaga nan en nanban kudia nan kedukka matten"

Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam- Movie Review

Film Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam : Its another mindless comedy flick to be added in the big list of films of the same genre. Songs and good performances by leads like sathyaraj are the plus. Targeting comedy seems to be the safest bet in Tamil cinema, which I fear will soon lose its charm. If you love good one liner jokes and would like to watch a movie just to laugh then try this for the weekend.

Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru Movie Review

Film Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru : Its a complete laugh riot, best of its kind in recent times. The film takes off with RJ Balaji giving the intro and taking care of first 10 mins before handing over the rest of the film to hero 'Santhanam' who steals the show easily with his one-liners standing out as always. The director's new approach of story telling which is quite entertaining along with Santhanam's casting is gonna a make this film a sure hit.
